Crate Rules
No
mirrors, no radios or communication equipment allowed at any time.
Body
1. Same as sportsman.
2.Spoilers may have a maximum size of 12" height by 72" width.
3. Note: Gurney flaps or curls are allowed along the upper edge of the spoiler,
but their
length will be included in all measurements, spoilers will be measured according
to total
length of and width of material, in any shape.
Number
1. Number must be at least 18" high and on both sides and top of car.
2. All cars must have a number.
Frame
1. All frames must be of steel construction.
2. Square or rectangular frame must have a minimum of 2" by 2" material .083
wall thickness.
3. Round tube frame tubing must have a minimum of 1 3/4 outside diameter .083
wall thickness.
Rear Suspension
1. Any rear suspension allowed.
Rear End
1. Quick Change type only. No Ford 9" rear ends.
Wheels
1. Any Steel or aluminum wheel allowed must be mounted with lug nuts.
2. No knock-off or center lock wheels.
3. Maximum wheel width 14".
Exhaust
1. Collector type headers required. Must have 4 tubes into 1 collector of a
consistent diameter.
2. No TRI-Y headers or merged headers allowed.
Engine Setback
1. Engine set back will be 6" from center of top ball joint to the most forward
spark plug on the
jig-frame car with 1" tolerance on engine setback. There will be a 50 pound
penalty forward
of the motor plate for each 1/2 inch of setback beyond 7 inches of engine
setback and up to
a 100 pound penalty. No cars with more than 8 inch engine setback will be
allowed to compete.
Engine
1. GM part #88958602 & GM part #88958604.
2. These engines are sealed at the intake manifold, cylinder head, front cover,
and oil pan with
special twist off bolt heads. Crate engines must not be altered, modified or
change from
factory specs.
3. No changes are allowed to the engine-intake manifold, heads, valve covers,
front cover oil pan,
harmonic balancer or any other part/or parts on/or in engine.
4. No vacuum pumps.
5. Other manufacturers sealed crate engines with the same or close to the same
horsepower rating
such as Ford & Dodge may be allowed as soon as they are available and have been
approved
for competition.
Brakes
1. Four wheel disc brakes permitted.
2. No carbon fiber brake parts permitted.
Fuel Cell
1. An approved fuel cell (32 gallon maximum) must be securely mounted in the
trunk area of the car,
inside a 20 gauge metal box supported by a minimum of 2" by 1/8" steel straps.
2. All fuel cells must be completely visible from rear of car.
3. Fuel cell must not be mounted lower than bottom of quick change rear end.
4. Gas only no alcohol no nitrous oxide, nitro methane or other nitrate
additives.
Transmission
1. Must have at least one forward and one reverse gear in working order.
2. Automatic transmission permitted. Must have torque converter or manual fluid
by-pass system.
3. No straight drives or in and out boxes.
4. Drive shafts must be painted white, carbon fiber drive shafts are legal.
Starter
1. All cars must have starter in working order.
Exhaust
1. Collector type headers required.
2. No deliberate air leaks, vents, holes, etc.
Water Pump
1. Cast or aluminum permitted.
2. No electric water pump.
Fuel Pump
1. Block mounted mechanical pump only.
2. No electric fuel pumps.
Distributor
1. Any distributor, no magnetos.
Carburetor
1. One four barrel of any manufacturer.
2. Engine must be naturally aspirated.
3. 604 engine may run a 1" carb spacer, 602 engine may run a 2" carb spacer.
4. May use 2 standard paper gaskets (maximum 0.070 inch thick) one gasket
between
intake to spacer and one gasket between spacer to carburetor.
Wheelbase
1. Minimum wheelbase for jig and snout car will be 103".
Roll cage
1. All cars must have a suitable steel roll cage protecting the drivers
compartment, including headrest.
2. Side roll bars are mandatory and must extend into the door panels. A minimum
of 3 bars must be on the
left side.
3. Each bar must be at least 1 1/2" diameter with a minimum material thickness
of .083.
4. Roll cages must be welded to frame.
Safety Rules
1. All cars must have 3" seatbelts with shoulder harness and must be attached to
roll cage.
2. All cars must be equipped with a 2 pound ABC fire extinguisher.
3. We strongly recommend a 5 pound halon system.
4. All drivers must wear a complete fire suit.
5. Gloves are not required but highly recommended.
Weight
1. 1 pound per green flag lap burn off allowed feature only.
2. All weight must be bolted securely to frame with 1/2" or larger bolts.
3. All weight must be painted white with car number clearly visible.
4. Weight must be posted on left C-pillar.
5. Track retains the right to adjust weight in the interest of competition
should it deem necessary. Any question
about weight ask before the feature not after the feature.

7. After qualifying all cars will proceed to scales to be weighed immediately
after the
event has been completed.
8. The top three finishes in the feature event will proceed directly to the
scales to be weighed.
