Demolition derby rules 2008
A. The derby will be open to any full size hardtop production car, with the following exceptions: No Imperials, Trucks, Commercial Vehicles, Convertible or Hearses. B. All glass, side chrome and flammable materials must be removed. Rear seats must be removed. This must be done before bringing the vehicle to the track. Glass must be taken out not broken. All broken glass must be removed from vehicle. C. Doors must be chained or securely welded shut. Welds cannot exceed 12 inches per seam per door. (4 seams per door – Top, Bottom, and sides. 4 door cars without a center post between doors may only count the joining seam as one seam.) Welds may be split into two 6-inch welds with gap or three 4-inch welds with gaps overall weld max. of 12 inches per seam. If doors are chained, no chains to exceed 3 feet in length, anywhere on the vehicle. D. Safety bar may be welded or bolted behind, from side to side, and inside driver’s door, and on driver’s right side. Side bracing must not exceed the length between the front windshield post to 18 inches behind the original location of driver’s seat. Safety bar and crossbar bracing cannot exceed 6 inches in diameter. All safety bars must be attached to body only and not to frame. No other bracing allowed. E. Trunk lids may be chained or wired (NO BOLTS). Maximum of 4 chains or wires. No tucking or turtle backing of trunk lid or quarter panels. F. Hoods may be chained, wired or bolted from inner fender to hood: No chains, wires or bolts to frame; maximum of 4 chains, wires or bolts may be used. Hood must have a 6-inch by 6-inch hole cut in it for fire safety. G. Bars or heavy gage wire screen is mandatory in windshield opening in front of driver. Vertical bars are allowed. Maximum of 3 vertical bars allowed. H. Bumpers must be stock OEM type and mounted in the original stock position. No braces may be added or welded to the bumper. Bumper cannot be welded or fixed to body. No chains or wire around the bumper. Bumper tips and fender wells may be trimmed, but no reinforcing with added metal. I. No chains or U-bolts allowed to re-in force connection between body and frame. J. Ride height of car must not exceed the maximum bumper height. No coil to leaf spring conversions, only stock automobile springs may be used. A maximum of 6 leafs will be allowed. No tape or welding on springs. OEM type shackles only. On cars with broken springs or shackles, repairs can be made, and supported by a chain around or through frame secured with 2 bolts. K. No trailer hitches, No objects allowed to protrude through to the outside of the car. L. Gas tanks must be installed in a safe manner, and must be made of steel (steel boat tanks allowed must be approved by the track officials.) No stock gas tanks allowed, stock gas tank must be removed. Gas tank must be securely located and securely capped, and fixed in position behind the driver; container must be bolted or chained very tightly. (A fuel cell is recommended) A maximum of 5 gallons of gas may be carried. M. Batteries must be moved to the inside of the car and securely fixed inside a Battery box. Either with or without the container, battery must be bolted or chained very tightly. No restriction on battery size. N. Radiator must be OEM type stock automobile size and configuration, and be located in original stock position. Electric radiator fans allowed. No additional supports or mounts may be used. No water lines may be run inside car. O. Engine must be located in stock position. P. Firewall must be stock with no large holes; any and all holes must be covered with rubber inner tube or like material. Q. No truck rear-ends. R. Body to frame hardware and bushing must be stock OEM type and size. Frames must be in original OEM condition for all vehicles. No bracing or reinforcing in any way. S. All station wagons must remove inside spare tire compartment lid. T. Tire must be a standard street tire only. Not to exceed 6-ply - 7.00 x 15 in type and size. No mud or snow grip tires allowed. No all terrain tires No grooved or doubled tires. No cement, fluids, or any thing other than air to fill tires. No beam locks, No valve stem protectors. U. Safety belts required: belts must remain buckled around driver during the entire time of competition. (Except in case of fire) V. Approved safety helmets are required and must be worn correctly buckled during the entire event. Losing a helmet due to it not being buckled will result in disqualification. West Georgia Speedway reserves the right to delete, change, or amend rules at anytime in the interest of competition and safety.
